Galaxy Note 3 rival LG G Pro 2

South Korea's LG Electronics has unveiled the large-screen smartphone G Pro 2, seeking to woo customers ahead of a rival offering from market leader Samsung Electronics later this month. Apple is also widely expected to launch its new iPhone with a bigger screen this year.

The G Pro 2 boasts a 5.9-inch screen, bigger than the 5.5-inch screen of the previous model and one of the biggest on the market. It also has a 1-watt speaker system, a first for smartphones and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

The unveiling of the new G Pro had been expected later this month. LG's earlier timing may have been prompted by market leader Samsung's decision to unveil a version of its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, three weeks earlier than expected.

The G Pro 2 will be on the market in Korea in late February. LG, the world's fourth-biggest smartphone maker by sales, did not announce a global sales target for the phone.

This model will compete against other major phablets, such as Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Nokia Lumia 1520, HTC One Max and Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

The company has also teased the launch of the mini version of its LG G2 smartphone, which will be unveiled on February 24.

LG Electronics has improved products and sales sharply in recent years and its global smartphone sales jumped 81% in 2013, according to data from Strategy Analytics. Even so, heavy promotion costs for high-end models has seen its phone division post two consecutive quarters of losses.

Nokia plans to launch its first Android based smartphone on February 24, according to a report of The Wall Street Journal. This is however not the first time that reports of a Nokia Android phone has surfaced. The Mobile Indian had earlier also reported about the Nokia X with Android operating system.

The Nokia X is expected to feature a 4-inch touchscreen display with 480x800 pixel resolution. Its design would be a simple marriage of the Nokia Asha and Nokia Lumia series models. Reports also suggest that the smartphone would be powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and 512 MB RAM. The Nokia X will be offered in dual-SIM and is expected to be priced under Rs 10,000 for India.

Samsung Galaxy Star Trios triple-sim phone unveiled

Move over dual-sim phones, leading smartphone makers are now launching triple-sim phones targeting emerging markets. 

Samsung has launched a new triple-sim phone, the Galaxy Star Trios in Brazil. 

Galaxy Star Trios sports a 3.14-inch QVGA (240 x 320p) display. It is powered by a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor and 512MB RAM. The phone sports a 2MP rear camera and does not feature an LED flash. It comes with 4GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD cards, and 3G and WiFi connectivity options. The phone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. 

Samsung Galaxy Star Trios, available in black and white colour variants. The phone is priced at around $165, however, there's no word on the phone's pricing and availability outside Brazil, at this point in time. 

Previously, LG had also launched the Optimus L1 II Tri triple-sim phone in the Brazilian market.

Samsung Galaxy S5 retail packaging and specs leaked

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a level of hype around it usually reserved for Apple products and a side effect of that is that there are enough rumors and leaks surrounding it to bury a small country.
The latest of these could be one of the most enlightening yet though, as there's now an image of what appears to be the phone's retail packaging.
That might not sound overly exciting, but it's the back of the box - AKA the bit with all the specs listed. The image, which was sent to SamsungGalaxyS5.nl by an anonymous tipster, claims the phone has a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, a 5.25-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, 20MP camera, 1080p video playback and recording and a 3000mAh battery.
The screen size and resolution match previous rumors and we've also heard previously that the Galaxy S5 might have a 2.5GHz quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM, so no real surprise there either.

Snap happy

What's more surprising is the 20MP camera, as earlier rumors pointed to a 16MP lens. While it can apparently only shoot 1080p video, which is slightly surprising given that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 can shoot 4K video.
We've heard several possibly battery sizes in the past but the general consensus seems to be that it would be bigger than the one in the Samsung Galaxy S4, which this is, as the S4 has a 2600mAh juice pack.
Of course there's no guarantee that these specs are the real deal. The image certainly looks like a Galaxy box, but it could just be a Photoshop of a Galaxy S4 one.

Rotating camera smartphone coming from Oppo

Chinese company Oppo has announced the availability of its new smartphone N1 from December 10. The tech world is awaiting the release of this 5.9-inch phablet with innovative features. Here are three distinct features that make this device stand out:

Oppo N1 Specifications-

This device has the world's first rotating camera that rotates 206 degrees, which ensure front shots as good as back shots. The 13-megapixel camera has six physical lenses and an f/2.0 aperture. This lets you to take clear photos even in the dark. Twisting the camera module automatically activates the camera app and the module will securely lock at any angle.

O-Touch:

LG's G2 began putting the back panel to better use mounting buttons there. Now N1 is coming out with a 12cm square touch panel on the back. It can be used to scroll through web pages, tap open apps and links, and also control the camera’s shutter.

O-Click:

O-Click lets you remotely operate the N1 camera. This keyring-like device helps you find the misplaced phone by setting off an alarm. O-Click fits on your keychain and supports a range of up to 50 meters, staying connected to your N1 via Bluetooth (BLE).

Operating System:

Oppo is launching this device with its own Android version called Color. Users can also install CyanogenMod custom firmware directly from the phone’s stock recovery. It will also produce a limited edition N1 which runs on standard CyanogenMod OS. What is CyanogenMod? It’s an open source replacement distribution for smartphones and tablets based on the Android OS.

N1 features a 5.9-inch 1080p IPS display, a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM, and either 16 to 32 GB storage. It releases on December 10 in Europe and America. It will cost $599 in America and €449 in Europe. The launch date for Indian market is yet to be announced.
